Bet Havarim Passover Seder

For Immediate Release: March 20, 2008

Bet Havarim's Passover Seder Committee is currently planning their fourth community Passover Seder, which will be conducted on the first night of Passover, Saturday evening, April 19th beginning at 5:00 PM. "Traditions at the Links," located at 5900 North Burdick Street in East Syracuse, will be the site of Bet Havarim’s Traditional Passover Seder. A reception will take place prior to the Seder service.

Committee members planning and organizing Bet Havarim's Seder are Cathy Dutch, Lynda & Jeff Fuchs, Helen Marcum, Marty Morganstein, Melanie & Jim Roth and Mel Shindler. "We want to acknowledge the work of Anita & Bob Burrows who organized and conducted our very first Seder and thank them for their efforts and assistance," said Morganstein. Explaining the decision to conduct the Seder on the first night of Passover was explained by committee member Melanie Roth, "recognizing and understanding that many members of Bet Havarim and the Central New York Jewish Community are unable to be with family on this night of remembrance, we agreed that, like Jews around the world, gathering together as a community was most meaningful for all attending."

The Seder will be led by Jeff Fuchs who said, "Last year we attempted to engage everyone either with a reading or singing part and the service was enjoyed by all attending and we hope to, once again, to provide a warm, friendly and spiritual service for everyone," adding, "as we gather on this first night of Passover to commemorate the redemption of of the Jewish People from Egyptian bondage and the exodus from that land, we will be conducting our service from a traditional Passover Haggadah and, in addition, we will include additional prayers and inspirational readings supplied by Melanie Roth."

The traditional Passover meal at the BH Seder will be catered by Yankel & Company and a vegetarian option is available. There is a cost to attend with a reduction for college students, teens and children.

Prepaid reservations are requested by Friday, April 11th. For information and reservations contact Helen Marcum at hrm4910 -at- aol.com (make the obvious substitution), or by phone at 637-4647.

Bet Havarim's Seder is open to the community. "We are confident that our Seder will be enjoyed by all who attend," said Marcum, "and we encourage everyone to make reservations for this blessed event."

Bet Havarim is organized to promote and cultivate a love and understanding of our Jewish heritage, teachings, and values, and to ensure the continuation of the Jewish people. Our common strength is through communal worship, celebration, study, a commitment to Israel and its people, and the practice of mitzvoth by applying the principles of Judaism to the values and conduct of the individual, family and the society in which we live for the betterment of humanity.
