For Immediate Release 5/25/05
On June 17th Bet Havarim's monthly Shabbat worship service will be conducted at St. David's Church in Dewitt. Services begin at 7:30p.m. and are followed by an Oneg Shabbat reception. Services are led by members of the Chavurah's Shabbat committee with prayers and liturgy led by cantorial soloist, Hanita Blair.
"We will be celebrating Shavuot; Don Kates, a Shabbat committee member, will be facilitating the commentary and discussion of the Torah portion for that week," stated Mel Shindler, Shabbat Committee Chair.
Shindler continues, "In addition to the Shavout service, Bet Havarim will have its second baby naming. I am thrilled to be asked and to blessed to name Seth Aaron Albert." Seth is the son of Marc and Meredith Albert. Grandparents are Frann and Harvey Albert, and Wendy and George Corbett of Philadelphia. In honor of their grandson's naming, the Alberts are hosting the Oneg Shabbat following the service.
In September Bet Havarim will be conducting a Shabbat day-long retreat followed by a Havdalah service during which Bet Havarim's long-term future planning will be discussed. "We are currently planning the retreat's agenda and are looking forward to involving our membership in this discussion of our long-term goals. We recently celebrated our 2nd anniversary and are looking forward to the future, with new and interesting programming and services," stated Marty Morganstein, a BH leader.
